Albany State women’s hoops loses to Columbus State 73-54

The Golden Rams women’s basketball team was defeated (73-54) by the Columbus State Cougars on Tuesday evening at the Frank G. Lumpkin Jr. Center, in Columbus, Georgia.  With the loss, the Golden Rams fell to (0-3) on the season while the Cougars improved to (2-0).

The Golden Rams led (19-16) at the end of the 1st quarter.  But, the Golden Rams only scored 9 points in the 2nd quarter while allowing 18 points to the Cougars and trailed (34-28) at the half.  The Golden Rams scored 17 points in the 3rd quarter and gave up 18 points to the Cougars and trailed by 7 points heading into the 4th quarter.  But, the Golden Rams could only score 9 points in the 4th quarter while allowing the Cougars to score 21 points. 

Ultimately, the Golden Rams 24 turnovers were the difference in the game.  The Cougars scored a whooping 27 points off of the Golden Rams turnovers.
The Golden Rams shot 36.4% from the field, 33.3% from the 3 point line and 63.6% from the free throw line.

The Golden Rams had 3 players to finish in double figures.  Elisa Saffold led the trio with 16 points and 5 rebounds.  Chelsea Hill finished with 11 points and 6 assists.  Keyra Peterson contributed with 10 points and 10 rebounds.

The Cougars were led by Letiya Reeves, who finished with 19 points and 6 rebounds.  Olivia West had 11 points.  Lacy Robinson scored 10 points and collected 12 rebounds.
